Our Story...

In 2018, an emaciated, stray cat wandered into my parents' backyard. Although he was covered in muck, he was bright-eyed and friendly, and so my parents gave him some kibble and a place in their garage. When I fatefully met that special creature, I fell immediately in love. Beneath all the grease and tangles, he appeared to be a Blue Persian, and so I called him Xerxes (after the famous king of ancient Persia) and took him into my own home.

But little did I know... I had just adopted a cat whose breed and coat type required a very high level of regular maintenance. Worse, my sweet and adorable Xerxes turned into a wriggling, growling beast whenever it came time for grooming! The following years were a struggle at times, as my frequently matted Persian fled at the merest sight of combs or clippers. But I would like to think that we learned together through the experience. I joined the National Cat Groomers Institute of America to broaden my perspective, and a series of online courses helped to turn my unexpected passion into a workable skill.

Finally in 2023, inspired by Xerxes, I opened King's Mane Cat Grooming to offer cats all over Minot the royal treatment they deserve.
